Who we are
The Handprint Initiative is a collaborative effort between academia, the private sector and international researchers with the aim to generate positive actions by empowering learners across the world through a new pedagogical approach.
We are committed to enhancing the development of the key competences for sustainability set by UNESCO (2017), by actively contributing to achieving the 17 sustainable development goals (SDG) by 2030.
We cannot expect young people to attend school on Fridays when they see that the largest problems of the world are not being solved in classrooms. We need to make education relevant towards facing social and environmental challenges.
We urgently need a change of perspective in the way we teach, promoting a more co-engaged action learning. We need to help students by creating education models that are relevant to their vision of a better world, which will ultimately determine their future.

What we do
The Handprint Initiative is an action-oriented educational approach based on the development of the key competences for sustainability. It’s aim is to empower teachers and students so they become changemakers by actively participating in the decision-making processes of our society.
Therefore, we:
- Strategize and implement educational programs in different schools across the world
- Carry out academic research focused on the direct implementation and active participation of teachers, learners, and the broader community of businesses, NGOs, and other interested organizations.
- Provide an intercultural framework based on the local context and the social reality to each of the participating educational institutions.
- Design international and didactical material adapted to the specific needs of each entity.
Therefore, we:
